Fowey Town Project
In 2005 we were asked by Fowey Town Forum to help them increase
recycling in the town and engage with residents, businesses and visitors to do so. The following year we helped them to: secure funding through the AONB Sustainable Development Fund; develop, print and distribute their own Fowey Visitor Charter; design and install brand new, informative and arresting recycling signs for the recycling site at the top of the town, with help and support from Restormel Borough Council.
This project became an excellent example of collaboration and initiative-taking between CoaST, Fowey Town Forum, Restormel Borough Council - and all thanks to funding from the AONB Sustainable Development Fund.

Fowey also wanted to develop their own Visitor Charter, focusing on encouraging businesses, residents and visitors to get out of their car (to relieve the congestion in the narrow streets in the summer); to buy local (to safeguard the many and diverse small and independent shops in the town centre); and to recycle! |
