Ambassador Mod Lefroy
I am a Director of 2 companies: Global Boarders Surf Vacations and Surf Experiences and GB Surf School and a Project Manager for a third GB Boardriders Community Interest Company. Across the 3 companies we provide unique, multi award-winning Specialist Surfing Programmes to 2 sectors – the Leisure and Travel Sector and the Social sector [a mix of schools, colleges, Short Stay Schools [excluded pupils], Family Services, Cornwall NHS, disadvantaged groups: West Cornwall Women's Aid, St. Michael's Refuge, WILD project, plus many more organisations].I am passionate about helping to create social change through physical activity with an emphasis on improving family cohesion and personal and collective responsibility. Our dedicated, experienced Team deliver this expertly through bespoke Specialist Surfing Programmes. I am committed to all forms of CPD and self development [physical, mental and spiritual] and am about to embark on a PhD.At our founding stage, in 2005, we became members of Coast and employed the guiding principle of the triple bottom line [Social, Economic and Environmental] into every part of our organisation. We have taken huge steps in ensuring that we meet each category as completely as we can with particular reference to our Social strand and improving the lives of local people and their communities. As well as Coast the results and benefits of our Specialist Surfing Provision has been officially recognised by the Blue Gym and is being evaluated by academics from the Penninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry. We have also been personally invited to present and form part of the panel at the World Travel Market World Responsible Tourism Day – a huge opportunity to share the benefits of our Specialist Surfing Projects in Cornwall.I feel privileged to receive this Ambassador role from Coast and I look forward to working in more detail with Coast, proactively addressing sustainability and informing policy. My Team and I have worked really hard since 2004 creating a successful sustainable Surf Company and are truly delighted that our efforts and Best Practice have been officially recognised by Coast. We will continue promoting and delivering excellence whilst trying to make a difference in our small way to help create meaningful, social change. To date Global Boarders, a British Surfing Association registered Academy, is the first Surf provider with sustainability at its core since founding in 2004. We were the first OFSTED registered surf company and the first GTBS registered company. We are also recognised by the Cornwall Tourism Awards and South West Tourism as the leaders in our field [winning golds and silvers over 4 categories [including sustainability] over 2 consecutive years – 2010 results pending!].GB Innovate not Imitate & Excel in every Detail. We look forward to surfing with you soon.Mod and Team GBxQuote of the Day
