Cornish Real Nappy Project
Cornwall has around 5000 births per annum and single use disposable nappies amount to 3.2% of household waste going to landfill (7000 tonnes per year) at a cost to the Cornish taxpayer of an estimated £300,000 per year. And this does not even start to take into account all the disposable nappies used by babies that visit Cornwall each year on holiday! The Cornish Real Nappy Project, launched in 2002 is having outstanding environmental benefits by reducing the amount of nappy waste going to landfill. The aim of the project is to inform and convince parents to choose washable alternatives and CoaST has been working with the project to try and spread the word to visitors to the county. Several of our our Ambassador businesses have been encouraging visiting parents to trial real nappies while they are on holiday; self cateirng or serviced accomodation providers have been offering Real Nappy trial packs to their guests to make the whole process super simple, while several campsites and large hotels have been offering them for sale in on-site shops. If you are a business interested in providing more information to your visitors about real nappies, or a visitor wanting to give them a go, then simply contact one of the Cornwall Real Nappy Team by e-mailing info info "> Quote of the Day
